Veneers are thin tooth-coloured coverings placed on the surface of teeth - just like a false nail. They are typically made from porcelain or composite resin, providing solutions to cosmetic concerns such as chipped anterior teeth, discolouration or concerns regarding tooth size/shape.

VENEERS

At Whitefield Dental, we offer the following veneers to provide solutions to your cosmetic concerns:

Ceramic - durable, longer-lasting option requiring multiple appointments.

Composite resin - a minimally invasive option requiring little tooth preparation and can be done in one visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Preparing your tooth will require drilling your teeth. This is done under local anaesthesia to provide you with a pain-free procedure. If you require additional anaesthesia our clinicians can provide you with more.

Our clinicians are trained and committed to making your treatment as comfortable as possible. Please do not hesitate to voice any concerns with any of our clinicians during your appointment.

  • You will require two appointments to complete your treatment

Your first appointment will include preparing your tooth to fit the veneer once it is made. This will be done under local anaesthesia to provide you with a pain-free procedure. In this appointment, you will pick a tooth shade to ensure best aesthetics.

Your second appointment will be your veneer fit, where the dentist will fit your veneers, ensure it is flush at the margins and harmonious with the rest of your teeth.

  • If taken care of correctly, ceramic veneers can last 10-15 and composite veneers can last 7-10 years with regular hygiene visits and good at-home care.

As a veneer is supported by the healthy tooth underneath, if this tooth deteriorates it can lead to your veneer failing.

Please speak with one of our clinicians on how to best care for your veneers.

  • A veneer is like a false nail which is thinner and sits over the front surface of the tooth. This makes it a less invasive procedure compared to crowns.

A dental crown encases a tooth entirely so all the tooth surfaces are covered by the crown. In order to allow for a crown to fit on the tooth correctly, it requires more preparation of healthy tooth tissue.
